CEDAR RAPIDS — Two people were taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after they were injured in a shooting Saturday night near a downtown liquor store.
Cedar Rapids police Lt. Ryan Abodeely said officers were called to Sam's Liquor, 1500 First Ave. NE, at 8:12 p.m. Saturday on a report of a shooting in the store's back parking lot.
At least two people were shot, Abodeely said. Another person was reportedly injured, but Abodeely said it wasn't clear whether that person had been shot.
No suspects are in custody, Abodeely said. It appears the incident was isolated, involving the suspects and victims, and Abodeely said police don't believe there's any further danger to the public.
The liquor store was shut down during Saturday night's investigation. Abodeely said he wasn't aware if the store had since reopened.
The shooting remains under investigation, and more information may be released Monday as investigators learn more details, Abodeely said.
