One person shot in southeast Cedar Rapids Saturday night

Injuries not life-threatening; suspect remains at large

CEDAR RAPIDS — One person suffered non-life threatening injuries in a shooting Saturday night in southeast Cedar Rapids, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, Cedar Rapids police Sgt. Chris Bieber said.

The shooting was reported at 7:24 p.m. Saturday in the area of Bever Avenue and 17th Street SE, Bieber said. Callers reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area.

There has been no description released of the shooting suspect, who remains at large. Bieber said it’s unknown if the shooting was random or if a specific person was being targeted.

The case remains under investigation.
