Iowa's population continued growing again this year, adding 77,030 people - or 2.5 percent more - since 2010, the U.S. Census Bureau reported in estimates released Tuesday.
The state had 3,123,899 residents as of July 1, the bureau said. Between April 2010 and July, the state saw 203,935 births and 147,916 deaths. During the same time, 7,170 left the state but 29,280 moved in. Taken together, that represents the 2.5 percent increase.
Iowa was ranked the nation's 30th most populous state, between Connecticut (29) and Utah (31). The most populous, according to the Census Bureau's estimate, is California at 39,144,818. The least populous is Wyoming at 586,107.
