CEDAR RAPIDS — Iowa 1st District Democratic hopeful Abby Finkenauer of Dubuque has landed three more unions endorsements.

The Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local 81, United Association of journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Boilermakers Local 83 joined 10 other unions in endorsing Finkenauer.

Finkenauer, a second term member of the Iowa House, is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge 1st District Republican Rep. Rod Blum, also from Dubuque.

In endorsing her, the Heat & Frost Insulators notes her opposition to Republican changes to Iowa’s collective bargaining law and workers’ compensation last year.

In giving Finkenauer “our strongest endorsement, the Journeymen and Apprentices notes that as the daughter of a 40-year member, she understands “how much labor does for our nation.”

The Boilermakers expressed confidence that in Washington, Finkenauer “will deliver for Iowa’s middle-class families.”

Finkenauer also has been endorsed by Emily’s List, NARAL and more than 20 elected officials and activists.
