IOWA CITY - David Dude, a top administrator in the Iowa City Community School District, is one of six candidates for a superintendent's job in Stillwater, Minn., he said Thursday.
Dude serves as the chief operating officer and chief technology officer for Iowa City schools. He joined the district in 2011.
The school board for Stillwater Area Public Schools, which serves several communities outside the Twin Cities, expects to hire a superintendent in mid-March. The new superintendent would start work July 1.
Dude said he will be in Stillwater for an interview Feb. 21. A possible second interview would be on March 2, 3 or 4.
Dude, who oversees physical plant, transportation and technology work in Iowa City, said he was not concerned about what would happen to his responsibilities if he left the district.
'I'm confident that we could shift roles and responsibilities here in our district,” he said.
Dude said he applied for the job several months ago. Iowa City superintendent Stephen Murley has been supportive, he said.
Dude also said he was a finalist last summer for a school president's job in Illinois.
The Iowa City district restructured parts of its administrative team last month after Assistant Superintendent Ann Feldmann effectively retired in December. The changes did not affect Dude's job title or responsibilities.
