CEDAR RAPIDS — An Iowa insulation and construction supply company is expanding in Cedar Rapids.

Kinzler Construction Services, which has its headquarters in Ames, opened shop in a 14,000-square-foot facility with a recent office expansion at 6415 Sixth St. SW on July 1. The firm expects to add 50 jobs over the next few years, said Craig Coder, general manager of the Cedar Rapids branch.

“With a location in Cedar Rapids we can service the whole southeastern part of the state,” Coder said.

Kinzler, which has been around for 32 years, has 250 employees and locations in Ames, Ankeny and Waterloo, Coder said. The company has been in the Cedar Rapids market since opening a Waterloo branch in 2008, he said.

Kinzler installs a variety of types of insulation, including blown in blanket, bedding, spray foam, and chip, as well as fireproofing and gypsum concrete in homes and commercial buildings. The company also distributes construction material, including drywall, steel, insulation, acoustical ceiling tile and exterior insulation.

The company is having a public grand opening beginning at 11 a.m., Friday with a free BBQ luncheon catered by Nelson’s Meat Market and a raffle until 2 p.m. People can also learn about job opportunities at the event or online at Insulation.net/careers.

Coder said the company wants to add 10 positions during its first phase of hiring, and will eventually reach 50 employees at the location within four years when the operation reaches full capacity.

Positions will include sales, management, distribution stockers and installers, he said. Wages will be $15 to $16 an hour for labor positions.

Until fully staffed, the Waterloo location will backfill labor shortages, he said.
