(George) Wade Killian passed away June 25, 2015, at Parkview Manor, Wellman.
Wade was born May 12,
1923, in Millersburg, to George F. and Viola (Back) Killian. He attended school in
Millersburg and graduated from Sigourney High School. On May 17, 1942, he married Lois Lorene Rohloff. They were proud to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary in 2012. To this union three children were born: Karen Koob of Sioux Falls, S.D., Lancey (Linda) of Sigourney and George Wade (Angie) of McGregor. Grandchildren include Jennifer Larsen, Kristen Carlson, Jill Heinsius, Ann Noska, Mary Lea Forrest, Ginny Lutjen, Trevor Killian, Joel Killian and Lindsay Killian. There are 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his sister, Shirley Montz of North English; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Wade was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois, in 2013; grandson, Phil Alan Killian; son-in-law, Dr. K. Gene Koob; and sister, Beverly Chambers.
Wade was a member of Bethel UMC Men's club. Following his retirement from farming, he spent many hours volunteering at the Lord's Pantry. He enjoyed farming, carpentry and never knew a stranger.
A celebration of life service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Sigourney on Sunday, June 28, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. LuAnn Benge officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, June 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney.
Donations in Wade's memory may be made to the Lord's Pantry or charity of your choice.
