Steven James Harreld, 32, of Strawberry Point, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the United Methodist Church, 202 W. Mission St., Strawberry Point, with the Rev. Dr. Leonard Ranson officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church and also beginning at 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday. Inurnment at a later date at Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point. Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point is serving the family of Steven James Harreld.
He was born Aug. 7, 1982, in Reno, Nev., the son of Mark and Laura (Knight) Harreld. As a young boy, Steven moved to Strawberry Point with his family. Steven was a 2000 graduate of Starmont High School, excelling in academics, wrestling and football. He then furthered his education at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Steven worked in decorative bridge construction and commercial building construction.
Steven had a passion for playing his guitar, listening to music and song writing. He loved spending time with his daughters, reading, fishing and learning about the world.
Survivors include Steven's parents, Mark and Laura Harreld of Strawberry Point; his two daughters, Lily Laurel Kai and Violet Rayne Marie; and their mother, Bobbi Falck, all of rural Strawberry Point; his siblings, Matthew (Holly) Harreld and their daughter, Amelia, of Anaheim, Calif., Michelle Harreld (Chad Beatty) of Portland, Ore., and William Harreld of Cedar Rapids; maternal grandparents, Nolan and Marie Knight of Strawberry Point; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Earl and Judy Harreld.
