Peter D. Hasler, 60, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may register after 10 a.m. The Rev. Edwin Moreano will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery following the services. The family will greet friends at the luncheon to be held at the United Church of Monticello fellowship hall following the burial.

Peter is survived by his sister, Nancy (Doug) Streeper, Solon; a sister-in-law, Deanne Hasler, Monticello; his nieces and nephews, Jeff (Shelli) Streeper, Brian (Amanda) Streeper, Jason (Jen) Hasler, Jamie (friend Nick) Hasler and Mark (friend Katie) Hasler; and great-nieces and nephews, Azaleah and Vienna Streeper, August, Ivy and Sutton Streeper, and Scarlett Hasler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul.
Peter David Hasler was born Oct. 1, 1955, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Peter R. and Mary Peters Hasler. Peter graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1974. He continued his education at Iowa State University in the Farm Operations Program, graduating in 1976. He farmed near Monticello with his father and brother, Paul. Peter liked experimenting with different cropping techniques and beef cattle genetics. He was also an ISU Master Gardener. In his spare time he enjoyed going to auctions and attending farm educational meetings.
