Joyce M. Chrystal, 89, of Manchester, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be at a later date.
Joyce Marie Chrystal was born May 2, 1926, in rural Martelle, Iowa, the daughter of Rhinehart F. and Lena (Hamer) Herren. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church and remained active in it throughout her life. She graduated from Anamosa High School in 1943. She taught one year at a country school and then worked for Collins Radio. Joyce married Glenn Howard Chrystal on Aug. 11, 1956, in Marion. They farmed together in the Manchester area until retirement.
They were members of Country Cousins Square Dance Club and Wild Rose Ramblers Camping Club. Joyce was a 4-H leader and worked as a census taker.
Joyce is survived by a daughter, Darla Golden of Marion; and one grandson, Luke Conrad.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Marcia Conrad; and a son, Scott Chrystal.
