Ila Justine Foley, 92, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Tama, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital in Waterloo. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, with a rosary and vigil service at 5:30 p.m.
Ila was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Buckingham, Iowa, the daughter of Claude and Laura (Hooper) Mask. She graduated from Traer High School. On Sept. 9, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ambrose M. Foley in Buckingham. Ila sold Avon while farming with her husband, Ambrose. They later owned and operated Foley's Motel for eight years until retiring in 1987.
Ila was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
Ila was a joy-filled woman, who had a zest for life that continues through her family. She and her husband of 60 years, Ambrose, enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Ila enjoyed cooking and loved gathering her family together for meals. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her four children, Larry (Mardonna) Foley of West Des Moines, Mary Duggan of Phoenix, Ariz., Patrick (Sharon) Foley of Fishers, Ind., and Lynette (Jerry) Hackett of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ambrose, on Sept. 27, 2001; four brothers, Ernest, Lyndon, Harold and Ralph Mask; and a son-in-law, David Duggan.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.
