SOLON — Solon senior Tyler Linderbaum has been selected to participate in the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, it was announced Monday.

The game is January 6 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. It features 100 of the top senior prep football players in the country.

“It’s a pretty cool honor,” said Linderbaum, a verbal commit to the University of Iowa. “Just to be able to represent Solon and the Hawkeyes, that’s pretty cool.”

The game will be televised live at 1 p.m. on NBC. Linderbaum is a 6-foot-3, 270-pounder who is projected as a defensive tackle at the college level.

“I found out a couple of weeks ago,” Linderbaum said. “I didn’t know if I should put it Twitter or not ... Looking forward to it.”

Solon (9-0) hosts Decorah (7-2) in a Class 3A state playoff game Friday night.
