Breitbach's Country Dining wins James Beard Award

Breitbach's Country Dining, located in Sherrill, IA, has won an America's Classics Awards from the James Beard Foundation.
According to the Web site, these award are "given to small, regional restaurants, watering holes, shacks, lunch counters, or eateries that have offered good, down-home food and unmatched hospitality for generations."
And Breitbach's fits that description. The restaurant has been around since 1852 as Iowa's oldest bar and restaurant. As you may recall, the restaurant, which has been owned by the same family for five generations, has burned, not once, but twice.

The first fire was Christmas Eve 2007. The second fire was four months after opening the newly rebuilt restaurant opened on Oct. 24, 2008.
