There has been some rotation confirmed north of Solon and heading into southern Linn County. Expect tornado risk and heavy rain from that storm system heading in an northeasterly direction.

“...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 915 PM CDT FOR NORTHEASTERN JOHNSON AND SOUTHEASTERN LINN COUNTIES... At 840 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Lake Macbride State Park, or 11 miles southeast of Cedar Rapids, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This dangerous storm will be near... Solon around 845 PM CDT. Mount Vernon and Lisbon around 905 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Sutliff, Twin View Heights and Sandy Beach Camp Ground. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Heavy rainfall may hide this tornado.
