Temperatures in Eastern Iowa will continue climbing this week, helping improve road conditions as people return to work after the holidays.
Commuters should expect a chilly morning commute Tuesday. Temperatures will rise throughout the day between the mid teens to near 20s, which while still cooler is much nicer than the bitter temperatures and wind last week, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will continue to rise over the second half of the week and in to the first few days of 2023.
A winter weather advisory expired Monday at noon after a snowy night Sunday into Monday morning left up to 3 inches of snow on top of the existing snow from the last storm.

As of 6 a.m. Monday, the Iowa Department of Transportation had 327 snow plows out on the roads across the state working until roads were cleaned up, according to a Facebook post.
Most major Iowa roadways, including Interstate 80 and Interstate 380, were reported Monday afternoon to be in seasonal conditions. Many others, especially in north central Iowa, were reported to still be partially covered with snow or ice.
More snowfall can be expected over New Year’s weekend.
