The U.S. Supreme Court is poised to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision protecting women’s rights to abortion, according to a draft majority opinion circulated inside the court, Politico reported.
Two teenagers accused of killing a Fairfield high school Spanish teacher had their appeals declined by the Iowa Supreme Court on Thursday. They had appealed a decision that would allow the public and the news media to attend a hearing about sending their case to Juvenile Court.

Both now will be considered Jan. 7, the Friday before the court was to resume its normal schedule of oral arguments. It is highly unusual for the justices to schedule such hearings on emergency requests.
Although the number of eviction filings has been “somewhat muted” during the pandemic, number are rising to pre-moratorium levels with 171 evictions currently filed in Linn County that are set for hearing sometime in the next few weeks. That’s about 23 percent of the 730 evictions pending hearing statewide.
