Brady Ellingson, a senior-to-be guard who announced last month he was leaving the Iowa men’s basketball program, is transferring to Drake University.

Ellingson will be a fifth-year senior and a graduate transfer with a degree in enterprise leadership, thus he’ll be eligible to play for the Bulldogs and first-year head coach Darian DeVries next season.

Ellingson, from Menomonee Falls, Wis., played in 94 games for the Hawkeyes. He averaged 2.8 points over 28 appearances last season.

He sent out a tweet Monday afternoon saying “Excited to be a Drake Bulldog next year!”

DeVries then put out his own tweet, saying “Brady is going to be another great addition to our program!! High IQ and can get it going in a hurry from 3!!!” Ellingson made 63 of 156 three-pointers at Iowa for 40.6 percent. He made five 3-pointers against Ohio State in a 2017 game.

Sunday, point guard Nick Norton announced he was transferring to Drake. Norton will also be eligible to play immediately. He started all 32 games for UAB last season, averaging 7.5 points and 4.9 assists.

Also last week, DeVries hired former Iowa player Matt Gatens to be the Bulldogs’ Director of Basketball Operations.
