Iowa landed a 6-foot-4 Class of 2019 receiver Tuesday as Kansas City Raytown (Mo.) prospect Desmond Hutson announced his commitment on Twitter.
Hutson, 190 pounds, is a 3-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite, ranked No. 125 among receivers nationally and No. 25 overall in Missouri. Rivals.com also gives him 3 stars and ranks him No. 20 in Missouri.
Iowa is Hutson’s lone offer, though Rivals reports interest from Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota and Purdue.
Hutson wrote he announced his commitment almost one year after the death of his brother, Chris Hutson.
“Today has been a day I have been dreaming about since I was young,” he wrote, “I lost my brother on (May 26, 2017) and from that day on I made a promise to him that I will make him proud always was my number supporter and this one is for him and with that being said I am announcing that I am continuing my educational and athletic career at the University of Iowa …”
Hutson is Iowa’s seventh 2019 commitment and fifth on offense, joining Orion, Ill., tight end Logan Lee and offensive linemen Ezra Miller (Holstein), Tyler Endres (Norwalk) and Noah Fenske (New Hampton).
Iowa signed three receivers in the Class of 2018: Nico Ragaini (West Haven, Conn.), Calvin Lockett (Largo, Fla.) and Tyrone Tracy Jr. (Indianapolis), plus Crystal Lake, Ill., athlete Samson Evans, who could play running back or receiver.
