Iowa football at Penn State: Final score, highlights, postgame coverage

No. 18 Iowa had a chance to control its own destiny in the Big Ten West.

Instead, the Hawkeyes offense struggled throughout a rainy day at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pa., and couldn't punch in a late drive that reached the Penn State 3.

No. 16 Penn State escaped with a 30-24 victory. Both teams are now 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley was just 18-of-49 passing for 205 yards and two interceptions. The Hawkeyes averaged 4.0 yards per play.

Trace McSorley dealt with a knee injury for Penn State, but still rushed for a 51-yard touchdown that gave the Nittany Lions the lead. He was 11 of 25 for 167 yards, a TD and a pick. PSU gained 4.9 yards per play.

Iowa travels to Purdue (4-4, 3-2) next week in another pivotal Big Ten clash.
