It was announced this week that former Iowa player Devyn Marble is returning to Italian pro basketball team Dolomita Energia Trento.
“The fact that he strongly wanted to return here makes us proud and confident,” said the team’s coach, Maurizio Buscaglia.
Marble played for the team two seasons ago after getting waived by the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers. He was a 2014 second-round draft pick of the Orlando Magic. He played 16 games for Orlando his rookie season and 28 more in 2015-16. He was traded to the Clippers
Last month, Marble played for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Summer League, but was used sparingly. He is 25.
Marble played at Iowa from 2010-2014. He is Iowa’s No. 6 all-time leading scorer with 1,694 points.
Two weeks ago, former Hawkeye Jarrod Uthoff of Marengo and Cedar Rapids Jefferson signed with Russian pro basketball team BC Zenit St. Petersburg.
That came after Uthoff spent the majority of the last two seasons in the NBA G League. He played in nine games for the Dallas Mavericks at the end of the 2016-17 season. He had originally signed with the Toronto Raptors as an undrafted free agent.
