Readers submit alternate Iowa uniform concepts

A few weeks ago, we asked readers to submit their design ideas for an alternate Iowa uniform.

The Hawkeyes, typically traditional in their style, will wear a special alternate for Saturday night's game against Minnesota.

Iowa has a classic look that shouldn't go away anytime soon, but some players and fans like an occasional change of pace.

“Speaking for me, I haven't played in a different uniform here,” running back Wadley said. “They should be sweet. They showed us a sneak peek of them, they look sweet. I always say if you look good, you're going to play good.

Others? Not so much.

"Everyone has a personal preference. For me, it's not that important,” said guard Sean Welsh, a native of Springboro, Ohio. “Some people enjoy dressing up a little bit.”

You'll get a full look at Iowa's new apparel Saturday, but for now, take a look at what our readers designed and remember to vote for your favorite at the bottom.

A few submissions stayed close to the blackout theme.

This submission comes from Micah Tweeten, who went above and beyond and designed more than one concept. Check them all out on his website.

A couple people would like to see white implemented more in the scheme.

We've seen Iowa State introduce a gold uniform recently, and here's a concept for the Hawkeyes to do the same.

And lastly, a modernized version of the winged shoulders Iowa fans loved so much.
