Kernels officially take over Waterloo Bucks

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids Kernels announced Monday they have officially taken over operations of the Waterloo Bucks of the collegiate Northwoods League.

The Kernels announced over the summer they had purchased the club, pending league approval, which have now been given. The Bucks will continue to play games at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo.

“Waterloo has a tremendous baseball history, the team receives excellent support from the community and is close enough to Cedar Rapids to share resources,” said Gary Keoppel, President of the Kernels.

“For years, the Waterloo Bucks have provided the people of the Cedar Valley with wholesome, family entertainment and we feel this will only be strengthened with the addition of the resources we are able to share with the Kernels,” said Dan Corbin, Bucks General Manager.
