The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival is relocating the Balloon Glow again

In order to accommodate historic high attendance and enable an ability for future growth, Freedom Festival’s executive director Robyn Rieckhoff has announced that 2019’s Balloon Glow will now be held at The Cedar Rapids Country Club on Tuesday, June 25, 2019.

“We collect feedback each year, and we regularly hear that our community greatly enjoys the Festival’s family-friendly events at the very affordable price of a button,” sayd Rieckhoff in a release. The relocation to The Cedar Rapids Country Club will more than meet their needs for the event, organizers said.

The 2018 Balloon Glow needed to be rescheduled following rain, and ended up being held at the BoTown Entertainment Park in NewBo.

Freedom Festival Board President Jonathan Lam thanked Brucemore for their partnership over the years, but says the “new venue provides us additional space for guests to spread out and increase the number of hot air balloons.”

The Cedar Rapids Country Club General Manager, Travis Hall said in the release that he was enthusiastic about their involvement.

“We are so excited to host the Freedom Festival on our beautiful grounds, and we invite all friends of our community to Balloon Glow 2019. All are welcome to join in the fun,” Hall said.

Shuttle stops will be available at the same location as previous years — the Washington High School parking lot and 35th Street NE Rockwell Lot. Admission will remain the price of a Freedom Festival button for $5, available at all Corridor Hy-Vee Food Stores and Drugstores locations and Casey’s convenience stores.
