As a voter, I am asking U.S. Sens. Charles Grassley and Joni Ernst for transparency - what are their stances on the For The People Act?
Over the last few decades, political polarization has torn our government apart and abandoned the American people. Recent elections have demonstrated that our current political system no longer works for those it was supposedly built for, the people. Constituents of Iowa want to know that when we cast our ballots, we can have confidence in the election’s outcome. Is our system safe and secure?
As Americans, we deserve a government that works for all of us, and we demand a system where all of our votes are protected from outside influence and political pressure.
The For The People Act has powerful institutional reforms that will do the following: Protect federal elections from foreign and domestic interference by requiring the use of paper ballots; shine a light on foreign contributions made in U.S. elections that are done without proper disclosure or safeguards; ban members of Congress from sitting on corporate boards of directors; and require a thorough audit after an election to confirm the integrity of that election’s outcome.
These are reforms any senator of any party should want to support. If Grassley and Ernst care about protecting American security they will do the same.
