What Gov. Reynolds should have done instead

Regarding the incident of the governor’s vehicle striking a peacefully protesting constituent last month, I have four questions for the governor:

1. Was it not a government vehicle that failed to stop for a countryman in its path in Tiananmen Square some years ago?

2. Is it not illegal in Iowa to leave the scene of an accident, especially in a hit-and-run situation?

(Iowa Code 321.263)

3. Would it have been too much trouble to have yelled to your driver, “Stop!” or at least to have stopped to check on the well-being of a fellow Iowan who was hit by your SUV?

4. Would it have been too much trouble to stop and talk a few minutes with your constituent about his concerns?
