Vote to save our national character

Something precious is ebbing away under this administration and will be lost forever if allowed to continue. This election is about restoration. Where there is vulgarity, we want restoration of dignity. Where there is chaos and insecurity, we want and crave stability and safety. We want a restoration of objective science and daily briefings by a trusted CDC director to guide us. As parents, we want a president we can allow our children to listen to and a stable civic life driven by calm leadership and not constant drama and conflict. We want the derogatory and childish attacks to stop and the polarization they encourage to be replaced by collaborative problem-solving.

A few short years ago, we were not living in this alternative universe. We may have had policy differences but not chaotic, disrupted lives.

Joe Biden will provide the restoration. It is also very important that we send the message all the way down ballot. Only in down-ballot elimination will we message that it is not OK to degrade but it is also not OK to enable such behavior.

Perhaps there is an issue that the president claims to address to your liking and you are tempted to vote “yes, but” and ignore character, democratic deterioration and a mismanaged pandemic. There will be plenty of time for policy debates after the restoration. First, we must save our nation and our national character.
