Vote on Hemingway was Iowa City politics at work

The Iowa City school board’s antagonism against Phil Hemingway represents Iowa City politics at its finest. They don’t want conservatives or small groups (i.e., Hoover Elementary) to have a meaningful voice. Note Sen. Zach Wahl’s conversation with “several” board members with concerns regarding Hemingway’s nomination.

Why should the board have secret emails? Some things should not be emailed as emails are never secure.

No board should be a group of single-minded people. There can and should be more than one mind-set, and occasional dissenting votes suggests there may be concerns.

Many will say school boards are not political. Then why did 16 Democrat senators present vote against Hemingway when other nominees considered were approved unanimously?
