We will be voting for our choice for U.S. senator, on June 2, in this year’s Democratic primary. Incumbent Joni Ernst has failed in her promise to stand up for Iowans, both rural and urban. Her promises to improve health care, to renew the ethanol subsidy and to improve foreign trade relations, are just a few of her failures. We Democrats must vote for the strongest primary candidate to defeat her in November, in order to return integrity, clarity and honesty to the U. S Senate.
There are now four Democratic candidates running for her Senate seat. But no one has the breadth of life and professional experience that Vice Admiral Michael Franken of Sioux City has. He grew up on a farm and worked in a packing plant before entering the Navy, where he acquired an advanced education while deploying worldwide. Franken, a retired three star Navy admiral, has served with honor and distinction for 36 years in foreign countries, as well as alongside Sen. Ted Kennedy in Congress.
Please access the ‘Franken for U.S. Senate” website to read Admiral Franken’s biography and his resume, detailing both his military and personal achievements spanning his public service career. Monday, May 18, at 8 p.m. on Iowa PBS, tune in to a live debate between the four Democratic Senate candidates, to inform and educate your primary choice. The upcoming June 2 primary vote is critical!
