Bigotry of any kind should not be tolerated by anyone, but especially by those elected to office because they represent the voters’ views.
I thank congressional Republicans for finally taking a stance on U.S. Rep. Steve King. It is sad his constituents did not emerge and realize how bigoted he truly is.
King has been an embarrassment long enough. I have always felt Iowans were intelligent, educated people, and it is hard to understand how King’s tenure has endured for so long. The Republican Party should not have to handle the problem of King; his voters should do their own due diligence.
I thank Washington Republicans for bringing outdated, repugnant views such as those voiced by King to the public’s attention. This is a bold move for Republicans to do to one of their own, but I hope this is just the beginning. There is much house cleaning to do, and it should start at the top.
The Republican Party needs to remember its values and the good of the country, as we are in dire straits politically. Republicans, stand fast, stand strong and be forceful for those values we hold dear.
King must resign. This isn’t all about him, but all about Iowans, and we are not proud of the ideas he has perpetrated in the national news for too long.
