Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs made his mark on Mount Vernon. Many in town made their mark on him, too. Wirfs and his mother, Sarah, took The Gazette on a tour of his hometown, revisiting scenes around what essentially is the one square mile where he grew up. This story is a little about what can hold you back. This is mostly about what moves you forward.

Letters to the Editor

Reader is suffering from Trump stress

On July 21, 2016, The Gazette printed my letter saying the following:

“Vote No for Donald Trump -- someone who promotes, sells or advertises something in an aggressive way. Do you want to see that face or hear that voice for four more years?”

If more people had voted for Hillary Clinton I wouldn’t be suffering from Trump Traumatic Stress Syndrome (TTSS) today! I would love to wake up and go to sleep without seeing or hearing about Trump’s most recent asinine lie.
