A few weeks ago on a beautiful summer evening, I had the opportunity to attend a youth baseball game at Prospect Meadows baseball/softball complex, in the wide open countryside east of Marion. What a wonderful facility!
Games were taking place on the various diamonds. Families and friends were gathered around the fields, cheering on their favorite players. Everyone had a sufficient area to socially distance while sitting in the grassy areas and bleachers. Each baseball field was meticulously groomed. The dugouts and scoreboards looked classy, fresh, and new. The masked staff was helpful and friendly. After the game, I visited with the very personable general manager. He enthusiastically shared with me his pride for the complex, and how things function with games on a daily basis. He also told me about the teams that would be arriving on the weekends to play in tournaments. He showed me the large amount of land that will eventually be developed into more baseball/softball fields in the future! It makes me happy to know that our athletic youth have an excellent area in which to play their game, in a wholesome, family friendly atmosphere. It is exciting to see that the vision of Jack Roeder and his supporters, who wanted a facility where youth could enjoy their love of baseball/softball, and diligently worked to make it happen, has become a reality.
