When Elizabeth Warren visited Decorah last year I was impressed by her passion and knowledge about a topic, and by the way she responds to questions. I’ve never seen a candidate answer so directly, and with such depth. This shows that she listens, and that she has worked hard to learn about the issues that challenge us. Not only that, but she has thought through to solutions, in detail that includes a sharp analysis of how a program such as health care can be funded. She has big ideas, and let’s face it, don’t we need these for our big problems? If we aim high, we might fall short, but if we aim low, we’ll fall shorter.
She is driven by a desire to improve the lives of Americans, especially those who are struggling, because she was one of them growing up and knows what people deal with every day, whatever their politics are.
Electable? Yes in spades! Consider:
Warren is unafraid not only of big ideas but also daunting fights. She took on big banks and established the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that defends consumers from the predatory actions of lending institutions. She ran against a popular incumbent senator and won. She knows how to fight and knows how to win.
We are lucky to have a candidate who brings big ideas to the problems we face and has the talent and passion to carry them forward. Please caucus for Elizabeth Warren on February 3.
