On Trump promises, Grassley misleads

News articles recently ran in which Sen. Chuck Grassley said Donald Trump has had great success in fulfilling campaign promises. Among those mentioned were cutting taxes (a farce), taking action (barely) against Russia for the aggression it has shown in Ukraine and Crimea, and efforts to improve U.S. trade agreements (certainly not by alienating signatories to those agreements).

What Grassley did not mention were top priorities Trump has been unable to fulfill: Build a wall and make Mexico pay for it, establish a ban on Muslims entering the U.S., fully repeal Obamacare, enact new ethics reforms to reduce the corrupting influence of special interests, raise the age to buy a gun, tighten background checks, and not be a president who takes vacations or plays golf frequently. This is only a representative list. The entire list is much longer.

The denial here is massive. What Grassley didn’t say speaks volumes. That Grassley stands behind a president who lies daily, exaggerates constantly, and even makes heroes out of dictators is simply mind boggling.

Trump’s lies alone should be reason not to support him. And his lies are well documented, and easily verified by doing a little research.

It’s obvious Grassley’s loyalty is to Trump and the Republican Party and not to his constituents. If we can’t trust Grassley regarding his assessment of Trump, on how many other issues in the past has he misread or mislead and, as a result, been unable to give us a true and complete picture of the issues?
