As parents, we always want what is best for our children. We made the decision to live in the Marion area so our children could attend the Linn-Mar school district. Many in the district are alumni who send their children to Linn-Mar schools. Why? Because Linn-Mar is known for its commitment to inspired learning, excellent academics and extracurricular activities, which empowers our children to take on life after graduation.
Our community is growing and so is our school enrollment, causing capacity issues. Linn-Mar had 5,267 students in 2005. Today there are nearly 7,800.
While portable classrooms, cubical wall classrooms in a commons area, and teachers’ lounges turned into classrooms are not ideal, the Linn-Mar school administrators, and most of all our children’s teachers, have made these less than ideal classrooms into the best learning environments as is possible. As parents and community members, we have the opportunity to provide more classrooms for our children by voting yes on Sept. 11.
Passage of this important bond referendum will enable us to build two new fifth- and sixth-grade intermediate schools. We need to come together to support our children and give them the classroom space they need to learn and grow. Please “Back The Bond” with us.
