Experience matters. I served proudly with Cedar Rapids District 5 council member Justin Shields as an officer of Local 110 and I saw firsthand his love, passion, hard work and commitment, day in and day out in serving our members to the highest degree.
He was a longtime Quaker Oats employee that served us in various key roles within our great union, and 15 years as our local union president. He never stopped working to make a difference in our workplace. And now that he is a council member, I see that same work ethic displayed every day. He never stops working for the residents of his district and for all of Cedar Rapids.
He has been endorsed by the Hawkeye Labor Council AFL-CIO, to which he is also a past president, as well as by the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Building Trades Unions and the Iowa Federation of Labor AFL-CIO.
He has walked the walk, and he has made a real difference in every member’s and their families’ lives. And now he’s leading efforts to take Westdale Mall from ruins to a prosperous shopping area. He has worked to make District 5 the fastest growing district in Cedar Rapids. He has worked to create new green spaces. He has enhanced neighborhoods with new construction and improved streets. He will never stop working for his constituents and he’ll fight for you every single day.
Please reelect Shields on Tuesday in District 5.
