Tip O’Neill’s adage, “All politics is local,” should be taken seriously in a time of political turmoil not seen in the United States since the 1920s. It is at this time that we need balance and stability in local government in its absence at the federal and state levels. Susan Mims provides this balance and stability as a member of Iowa City Council.
She has helped to shepherd the growth of both the downtown area as well as stabilized the neighborhoods so that Iowa City retains its balance of liberalism and conservatism that serves the civilian as well as the student communities in equilibrium.
Mims’ sense of balance has helped Iowa City, a college town, in that the student population is not resented by the townies, as it is in similar communities. It has helped Iowa City to host a diverse and mixed age population that mingles together in harmony. This concept takes experience at the local level that is earned through actual governance.
To help maintain balance and stability in Iowa City government, vote for and reelect Mims to City Council.
