In two months I will complete my term as an At-Large member of the Cedar Rapids City Council. During this time I have had an opportunity to work with some hardworking, diligent members of the City Council as well as dedicated staff. Cedar Rapids leadership has been in good hands and has accomplished a lot.
We will be electing a new mayor for Cedar Rapids from eight candidates, many of which are familiar to Cedar Rapidians. For me, the choice is easy. I will be voting for Brad Hart. I’ve known him for many years and can attest to his vision, foresight and dedication to the community. He will bring new ideas and new energy to many of the things the mayor and council will deal with in the next four years. The things that stand out to me are his ideas on how to deal with our affordable housing shortage, as well as his commitment to infrastructure, namely the need for flood control on both sides of the river and the need to fix the streets.
The job as mayor requires leadership and vision. Leadership is action, not position! Hart will take action; clearly define his vision and how we can achieve that vision. Several of the candidates speak primarily about one issue that is important to them. Others tout their service on the council. No one is better prepared to serve as mayor than Hart.
Please vote for Hart on Tuesday.
