Letters to the Editor

Kirkwood must decide where it stands

I am writing in sincere hopes that you will consider standing up for and supporting Jeff Klinzman.

I understand that a local journalist put him in a pretty negative light, I saw the news story. I can imagine the fear this stoked in conservative community members. But I implore your institution to have the moral sense to see that many people are emotionally reckless on the internet, especially when upset at an unjust system, and that at it’s root it is correct to be anti fascist.

All systems and institutions have a history and create linage, and in this time of extreme divisiveness, Kirkwood needs to decide what they value; fear; media, thoughtless internet comments aside, where are they standing? Do not think that ignoring this and firing Jeff to be safe, is the safest message. In the end, supporting fascism, racism, sexism, homophobia and the myriad hate that antifa stands strongly against is wrong, and not in their best interest of the college, student body, this country and humanity. See it or not, this country is not short on Nazis and Nazi sympathizers, and they will be the ones celebrating if Jeff Klinzman is fired.
