Iowa needs a new state auditor

It’s time for a change in our states Auditor’s office. Rob Sand will provide a level of accountability for the state’s budget and fiscal decisions, that Mary Moisman has been unwilling or unable to provide.

As hundreds of thousands of her fellow Iowan’s suffer the consequences of the failed privatization of Medicaid, Moisman has refused to provide evidence that privatization is actually saving taxpayers money. In fact the evidence that does exist, shows that Iowans who rely on Medicaid today, are receiving fewer necessary services today than they had under the state run model.

Much has been made during the campaign as to whether the auditor needs to be a Certified Public Accountant. I suggest that the current auditor, a CPA, has been derelict in her duty to mind taxpayer dollars. Even fellow Republicans agree that an auditor need not be a CPA. Moisman is in lock step with the Reynolds administrations focus on corporate giveaways, all while ignoring their fellow Iowans in need. Iowa deserves better.

It is time Iowa has an auditor who will be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. I believe Sand will be that person.
