Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs made his mark on Mount Vernon. Many in town made their mark on him, too. Wirfs and his mother, Sarah, took The Gazette on a tour of his hometown, revisiting scenes around what essentially is the one square mile where he grew up. This story is a little about what can hold you back. This is mostly about what moves you forward.

Letters to the Editor

Hinson loves America, unlike most journalists

In response to Erin Owen’s letter (“Media comments show Hinson’s untrustworthy,” July 22), I offer the following.

What the writer is doing is manipulating state Rep. Ashley Hinson’s comments to fit a narrative. Hinson no doubt enjoyed covering the news of Eastern Iowa communities and she did an outstanding in doing so.

If she has in fact recently bashed the media, she is completely justified in doing so. So called “journalists” in the mainstream media misrepresent the truth on a daily basis and are working hand-in-glove with the liberal left to fundamentally change the America we know.

U.S. Rep. Abby Finkenauer was put in office with the help of money from out-of-state progressive funding sources and she is in lockstep with the “Pelosi-Schumer resistance movement.” I suggest that Owen do some homework before lashing out at someone who truly cares about the future of our beloved country.
