Hard to make sense of C.R. street construction

I’m wondering if anyone from the streets department drives north on Edgewood Road over the Cedar River.

The road has been down to one lane for a couple months. When the weather was good, they would work until it rained (or even sprinkled) then be off for three days. It must be treacherous work to need it to be that dry before continuing. It seems all other projects are back up as soon as it stops.

My biggest issue is, why can’t they move the 10 or so concrete sewer pipes and the cones so traffic can pass as it was meant to? Now it has been over two weeks since any activity at all, and the one lane still is blocked. I’m just thinking it would have been nice to have both lanes this winter.

Speaking of Edgewood Road, up the road is another mess in front of Hy-Vee. I could see a long time ago that there wasn’t going to be enough room to put a full lane in there. The new inner lane is a cowpats at best. That turning lane needs to be shortened and the lane widened. I’m sure the alignment guys and body men like it.

I won’t say too much about the money wasted across the street from Shadow Wood Apartments. The hill was graded and regraded, the grass was planted. Then it was tore up to put a sidewalk in.

I understand everybody must work, but a little organization would be nice.
