Glad times for Iowans

Time for all Iowans to be happy and grateful. Stocks have rebounded on billions siphoned off from CARES by large companies and trillions in support and slashed interest rates. If you are still unemployed, time to get off your lazy backside and learn new skills.

Our derecho has provided the loveliest photo op for our leaders to show their concern over our plight and their pride in “can do” Iowans. We don’t need FEMA personnel and National Guards like we were hurricane devastated Florida. We are Iowa tough, right?

Who can complain about taking 4 days to notice people without power or livable homes before sending 100 engineers to “observe” the damage? Flat cornfields are much more news worthy and those without power and downed trees should have bought generators and chain saws.

With a 0.0575 share of $4 billion relief dollars going to people, no one can question our priorities. Companies selling crop insurance shouldn’t bear the burden compensating profitable megafarms. I am sure this will be a fast track action by a President who counts on Iowa votes.

Plus, in this time of uncertainty how great is it that we are getting rid of those ugly blue post boxes from our neighborhoods. They were such an eyesore. Older adults and disabled veterans will just have to understand their needs are secondary to the reelection concerns of our leadership.

So, be glad we are a red state. It hides the bleeding.
