Cindy Garlock is a candidate for one of two at-large positions on the Cedar Rapids School Board and she is an excellent choice. As principal at Kennedy High School, I had the pleasure of working with Cindy for nearly a decade of her 33 year career. Not only was she a successful science teacher, but she also fulfilled numerous leadership roles in which she worked with colleagues in the building and throughout the district.
As a teacher and leader, Cindy was held in high regard by students, faculty and administration alike. She built strong professional relationships and understood the ‘bigger picture’ beyond the classroom, beyond her science department, and beyond the single high school. She worked tirelessly for the students in her classroom and represented her colleagues with thoughtful tenacity. My husband, Ralph Plagman, former principal at Washington High School, also valued her strong leadership in curriculum development.
Cindy will bring that same vision to the school board. She will listen carefully to stakeholders. She will study the issues, ask meaningful questions, and be fully prepared to make thoughtful decisions that impact the lives of our children and families. Cindy Garlock is an exceptional candidate for an at-large position on the school board. The children of our district deserve her insight and her leadership. Ralph Plagman and I enthusiastically endorse Cindy Garlock for the Cedar Rapids School Board.
