Focus on renovation, not on permits

I drive by an old house every day while going to work. It is slowly getting better and better. I was curious so I asked one of the workers why there seemed to be a delay.

He told me they could not work because they were waiting for the permit “to be pulled.” He went on to explain that the permitting office seemed to be more interested in finding people who were doing work without a permit and fining them than in getting permits out for people to do the work.

I agree with this worker.

There are many houses you can drive by and see dereliction. Shouldn’t they look at those?

Fines should not be the priority, getting the work done should be.
