Cedar Rapids should reconsider street priorities

Has the city been hiring companies to repair our roads that provide shoddy workmanship? I ask because this very same company that has been working on Johnson Avenue for the past two summers is now going back and tearing up a large portion of Johnson Avenue that they completed last year. So, is the city going to be rebilled to repave that same portion of the road?

I would also like to point out that the traffic circle they installed on Johnson Avenue in front of Hoover school is a disaster. I have seen vehicles drive directly over the circle, stop within the circle and others just stop completely and not know how to proceed to enter. All four crosswalks have had their pedestrian traffic signs damaged by vehicles and are bent over.

I voted for the road tax, but I don’t feel like we are getting our money’s worth. The repairs to the roads are not keeping up with the damage. It seems like the city streets are in worst condition than before the tax was imposed. I also feel that the city needs to reset its priorities on which streets need to be repaired before other streets. E Avenue two major streets over from where I live is impossible to drive down without hitting numerous large pot holes along the way.
