Cats, even spayed or neutered, kill wild birds

In regard to a recent news article on the catch-and-release of feral cats (“Trap, neuter, release: Group aims for humane solution to control stray cat populations,” Feb. 25): I was disappointed that arguments against trap, neuter and release programs weren’t more clearly spelled out.

One reason not to support having any cat outside is the cat will kill wild birds. According to the American Bird Conservancy organization, outdoor cats kill 2.4 billion birds every year in the United States. A cat will hunt and kill birds even when it is well fed.

I feel a more balanced article could have been written.
