Letters to the Editor

Be civil when you disagree with others

This “resistance” movement is getting out of hand. Tone down the rhetoric or more people will get hurt or worse. Be civil in disagreements. Certain things must be done to protect our security, sovereignty, economy and safety.

We expect elected leaders to do these things for the good of all. The willingness of Congress to pass legislation protecting our borders and reforming our immigration laws have been disappointing and/or nonexistent. The positives that have existed since our Nov. 8, 2016, election have not received the credit deserved. The mainstream media has focused on news that is negative.

President Donald Trump was not my first choice. In fact, Carly Fiorina was, but in our caucus, mine was the only vote. So the choice went to an unlikely candidate, but the other choice was unsatisfactory. There was no way I was going to vote for Hillary Clinton, the Clinton machine and Clinton Foundation. Clinton’s handling of sensitive material vital to our national security which, whether intentional or not, most likely was unlawful. President Donald Trump has surpassed my expectations. I am better off economically now than before the Nov. 8 election. Keep it up, shed more unneeded regulations.

I expected one pick and perhaps two more picks to SCOTUS. I did not nor do I trust Democrats to appoint originalists to that court such as Justice Antonin Scalia or Justice Neil Gorsuch. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land and is the greatest protection against an overreaching government.
