Alternatives to living in fear exist

It has been my observation for years that most people live in fear. They fear others who think differently, look differently, worship differently or come from a different country. This fear seems to be reinforced by the constant barrage of talk-talk-talk in a never-ending cycle of commentary on the internet, cable news, talk programs, publications and from a petulant president.

Many fear someone will take more, get more or have more than they, so they boost economics over equality.

Despite what seems to be a popular opinion, political demagogues who say they are the only person who can take away fear is not realistic.

One solution might be to turn off the television and put away the phone or tablet in order to find a quiet space in one’s life. And a better way would be to show kindness to all, be willing to listen, be generous, and set aside obsessive self-interest for the good of the community.
