Trump has taken on the Chinese for Iowa's benefit

Since when did Americans simply give in to a challenge? That's not the America that I know and love.

For too long, many of our leaders at the federal level have given international competitors like China a free pass to take advantage of hardworking Americans. Under the Obama-Biden administration, Joe Biden failed to stand up to China for actions that hurt American workers, families, farmers, and taxpayers. The Obama-Biden administration stood by silently while China ripped off American businesses, stole our technological innovations, and manipulated markets and currency to their benefit.

Even today, Joe Biden doesn’t view China as a competitor and appears to be apprehensive to even try challenging them, recently saying “China’s gonna eat our lunch, come on, man!”

Since when did Americans simply give in to a challenge? That’s not the America that I know and love, and I know my fellow patriots agree. If complacency and acceptance of the status quo is the approach of a Joe Biden presidency, he is unfit to serve.

Under the leadership of President Donald Trump, China’s free pass is over. The United State is finally taking on China for their decades of unfair practices that harmed Americans and our economy.

Iowans who are impacted by trade with China strongly support President Trump’s action to create a more level playing field for our farmers and manufacturers. These are industries that are critical to Iowa’s economy and overall well-being. While the tariffs were a significant challenge for a time, Iowans understood the necessity of some short-term pain that would result in long-term gain and trade deals that were fair.

And this patience paid off.

President Trump negotiated a landmark trade deal that will significantly increase the export of American goods to China. Phase One of this agreement is just the start and additional trade deals could be in the near future.

All along the way, Joe Biden opposed President Trump’s efforts to deliver fair trade deals for Americans.

But trade and economic issues aren’t the only ways that Joe Biden has let China get away with bad behavior. For months, the Chinese government concealed the extent of the coronavirus within its borders, allowing it to spread across the globe and create a public health pandemic. We still don’t know how truthful China has been about the impact or what they did to prevent the spread.

President Trump took swift action to impose travel restrictions on China over concerns that the coronavirus could spread in America. Joe Biden called this move “xenophobic” and fear-mongered for weeks while opposing the President’s correct and lifesaving action. It wasn’t until China was exposed and the political winds changed that Biden tried to rewrite history by claiming that he supported these actions all along.

Joe Biden is not the President that Iowans or Americans deserve. We need a leader who isn’t afraid to stand up to China and puts the interests of American businesses, workers, and families first. We need the leadership of President Donald Trump in the White House so we can continue to compete globally and grow our economy.
