Ernst: Fighting for Iowa is my life's mission

Service. It is more than a word to me. It is a way of life.

As a retired lieutenant colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard, fighting for Iowa has always been my life’s mission.

In the U.S. Senate, I work every day across the aisle to get results for Iowa. Georgetown University ranked me one of the most bipartisan senators, from any state, of the last 25 years.

The results of that work are clear: As a survivor of sexual assault and domestic violence, I am a tireless advocate for women and abuse survivors. I am a champion for farmers, veterans and working families and a fighter for Iowa jobs. I successfully secured critical funding for the Cedar Rapids flood mitigation project. And, I will take on any country, regulation, or tax that would slow down our recovery and our growth.

In contrast, my opponent, Theresa Greenfield, has proved to be a rubber stamp for a dangerous, liberal agenda and cannot be trusted.

For starters, in 2018, Ms. Greenfield was kicked off the ballot when she ran for Congress because her campaign was caught forging signatures and committing felony election fraud.

But her questionable record dates back further. Ms. Greenfield was a top executive at Rottlund Homes while her company used eminent domain to seize property and was sued repeatedly for issues like shoddy work, negligence and breaking contracts. She then served as president of Colby Interests, where she heartlessly signed paperwork that kicked Iowa small businesses to the curb to replace them with a foreign corporation.

To know the type of dishonest politician Ms. Greenfield is, we need to look at who is funding her campaign. She is the handpicked candidate of the radical left, hiding behind millions in liberal special interest money.

Coastal liberal elites know they can count on Ms. Greenfield to be a rubber stamp on their radical agenda. She wants extreme new environmental rules that would kill American jobs and hurt Iowa farmers, while letting the world’s biggest polluters, like China, off the hook. She also wants to keep in place all of the federal government’s job-killing regulations.

Do not be fooled. Theresa Greenfield is perfect for California, but she is far too liberal for Iowa.

As your senator, I am focused on taking your voice to Washington and working for you. I am humbly asking to let me keep serving, and keep fighting, for Iowa.
